Yea I know it's Wednesday, but I was itching really bad to post something yesterday for Turntable 2sday here on The Freshest NoveL and I got distracted. Then I seen that serato officially is behind the new Dicer by Novation so I figured why not. Anyway, the Dicer acts as a hot cuer, beat cutter, and fx controller. You can also set hot cues and select tracks. It's specifically made for Serato Scratch Live, but works with Traktor too, and made to fit pretty much anywhere with the addition of "DJ putty." The putty allows the controller to stick to your CDJs or laptop and if your a vinyl head with Technics, there's a special adapter. In a time where it seems midi manipulation is the next step in DJ evolution, the Dicer provides a compact, simple way to jump on the band wagon.

The first single, titled "Under Pressure", featuring Jay-Z and co-produced with Scott Storch, was confirmed by Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre during an interview at Fenway Park before the first MLB game of the season. Dr. Dre stated that he would like Interscope to release the record within two weeks of the announcement. In May 2010 Dr. Dre also said that "Under Pressure's" release was pushed back due to Eminem's single being released ahead of time.

Today's fresh day of music continues with some new Roots & John Legend called "The Fire." Unlike the previous leak off How I Got Over, "Doin' It Again", "The Fire" contains brand new vocals from John Legend as opposed to a sample.

DJ Qbert himself puts the Serato's Scratch Live against Traktor's Scratch Pro in a head to head comparison dealing specifically with scratching.
Traktor is a Native Instruments product and is known for it four independent effects units and its advanced beat detection and Sync Lock for perfect mixing. Notables rockin' Traktor include DJ Craze, DJ Rafik, Carl Cox, and DJ Shiftee just to name a few. For the complete list of Traktor artists check out the Traktor website.
Serato Scratch Live comes to us from Rane, more notable for its mixers before Serato came along. Scratch Live is the industry standard as far as digital interfaces go with features including a SP-6 Sample Player and the next level video SL plug-in, which allows a DJ to scratch, mix, and manipulate audio/video files in real time. Some of the world's top DJs use Scratch Live including Sasha, Steve Aoki, A-trak, DJ Jazzy Jeff and even King Zulu Nation himself, Afrika Bambaataa. Check out the Serato Scratch Live site to see all the other DJs on Serato.

Prince-Hot Summer by thatdudeFRESH
Prince gives us something to work up a sweat to this summer. The drop-top jam debuted yesterday on the Purple One’s 52nd birthday and was likely inspired by the record-breaking temperatures that hit his home state of Minnesota last month.
You probably heard the snippet of this track on last year's Tapemasters Inc. and DJ Envy's Purple Codeine Vol. 25 mixtape with just Andre 3000's verse, now the full track has surfaced on the net! "Lookin' For Ya" was supposed to be featured on Big Boi's upcoming album entitled Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty (due out July 6th), but for some reason Jive Records is blocking Andre 3000 from being featured on his new album...so you won't be hearing this track on the album.
Brother Ali, along with Mos Def and the Rock Steady Crew, are headlining a predominantly Muslim Music Festival in Chicago on June 19th called Takin’ It To The Streets. It’s free and open to the public. This is a song he made for the event’s mixtape. He put a call out a few weeks ago for people to send him beats and ended up with this one by Medium Zach.

"This fun-lovin' Pittsburgh teenager seems pretty comfortable in his own skin, kinda like the kid you remember from school that managed to be popular with every clique. Dude's pretty good on the mic, and he's also pretty savvy: Hooking up with talented young filmmaker Ian Wolfson has made each of Mac's three videos considerably stronger than your average low-budget fare." -Complex Magazine

Mike Relm is one of the best out there doing the video remix thang. This is his latest movie trailer remix for the upcoming movie "Closure" produced by Circle Films for 30 feature film challenge. Relm hooked up with the guys from Circle during the Sundance film festival, "...I was blown away by what they could achieve in a month (Closure was made in 30 days including script). I imagine there was a lot of Red Bull and coffee consumed on that set." Check out Relm's youtube channel for a look at another way DJs are becoming more main stream and actually getting paid.

Only a few days after Cee-Lo’s new single drops we get this track which will appear on the upcoming soundtrack to the movie Twilight: Eclipse. The new album from Cee-Lo Green, The Lady’s Man comes out later this year.
With an imminent hits collection, a stadium tour, and confirmed studio time with Jack White and Dr. Dre, it's clear that Jay-Z hasn't been spending his post-Blueprint 3 days relaxing on the beach. While it's unclear if those White and Dre collaborations will ever see the light of day, a new track from Hov himself, "Ultra", has been making the rap-blog rounds this morning.
